Northern Atlantic Right Whale Sticker
Traveling along the east coast and sometimes the Gulf of Mexico, this whale lives on tiny copepods that they sift through their baleen. Their greatest risks are vessel strikes and entanglement from buoy lines.The Northern Right Whale, who primarily migrates up and down the eastern United States coast. Surprisingly, they also occasionally visit our Texas Gulf coast on rare occasions.

Texas Blind Salamander Sticker
The Texas Blind Salamander is most impacted by habitat changes from local humans. Conserve water and prevent chemical run off and water pollution to help maintain a healthy water flow for the salamander.

Black Footed Ferret Sticker
The Black Footed Ferret is a Lazarus species, which was thought to be extinct until it re-appeared on a ranch in Wyoming in 1981. This highly endangered animal has suffered from the eradication of prairie dogs from ranch lands, which it relies on for food and shelter in their prairie dog tunnels.

Red-cockaded Woodpecker Sticker
The Red-cockaded woodpecker is a rare woodpecker which can be found across the south eastern United States. They are colony nesters, building their nest cavities in pine trees near other family members. When drilling their nest cavity, they drill small holes below the entrance to encourage the flow of pine sap, which deters snakes and other predators.

Spotted Skunk Sticker
The Spotted Skunk can be found across North America and like other skunks, it displays a warning by lifting its tail prior to spraying, but in addition to this behavior, it also does a very impressive handstand making it unique among skunk species!

This tiny river fish can be found in the sightly turbid waters of Texas. They were once also in Oklahoma and Kansas, but dam construction of rivers and private land management practices have now restricted it's range to North Texas.

The Legendary Passenger Pigeon Sticker
The passenger pigeon mystified all in life and in death. This bird used to darken the skies with flocks so big they would black out the sun. These birds were thought to never go extinct, but little did biologists know, they relied on these large gatherings of flocks to mate. Once the population was reduced to an unsustainable point due to market hunting, the bird stopped reproducing as they used to. Their population plummeted to extinction. They stand as a warning to what can happen if we do not properly manage our activities with wildlife.

Like many animals, the Frio Roundnose Minnow has been affected by human activity. As we make changes to the river, and droughts decrease the water levels, populations become separated for long periods of time and now scientists have observed a species separation, where this one species may be becoming two.

Mexican Mole Lizard Sticker
As its name implies, this weird reptile known as a mole lizard spends most of its time underground. Like some other amphisbaenians, it has no back legs, but only two large front claws which assist it in digging. Although it looks a little like a snake, it is not dangerous and not in the snake family, but more closely related to a lizard.

Texas Blind Snake Sticker
The Texas Blind Snake is a tiny nonvenomous snake which is so small they are often mistaken for worms. They live on a diet of ants and termites. Because of this, they are often kept as pets by Screech Owls, who use them to keep pests out of their nests.

Aplomado Falcon Sticker
This beautiful falcon can be found easily across South America, but it is rare now in the Southern deserts and grasslands of the United States. Like many falcons, they do not build their own nests, but steal the stick nests of other birds. Although they are fast, they are very good also chasing down their prey on foot!

Black-crested Titmouse Sticker
This songbird is a fussy character with a stylish hairdoo. The Black-crested Titmouse hangs out in Texas alongside the Tufted Titmouse. For many years, they were considered a subspecies of the Tufted Titmouse, but have recently gotten their own species status.

Surprised Black Rail Sticker
The illusive black rail is a rare and shy bird that resides on the wetland coasts of Louisiana and Texas. The black rail in this cartoon is surprised to find a visitor.

Wood Duck Sticker
The Wood Duck is a great success story! It nearly went extinct due to habitat loss and over hunting in the late 1800's. Through the installation of nesting boxes to replace tree cavities and changing in hunting practices, the wood duck is now four million strong and growing.

Mexican Stoneroller Sticker
Mexican Stonerollers are only about four inches long and have a down turned mouth used for rolling stones out of pits to build nests. Males vary in color, but always have a stripe along the side and grow tubercles on their foreheads during the breeding season. They can be found in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas where they enjoy pools of clear, warm, slightly turbid water.

Hellbender Sticker
The Hellbender is one of the larger salamanders found in North America. Its population is declining throughout, but by keeping our waterways clean, we may be able to help the the Hellbender rebound.

Barton Creek Salamander Sticker
Found only in the Barton Springs of Zilker Park. One half of the population lives underground, only emerging in certain life cycles. Although still rare, the reduction in chemical cleaning of the pool has improved their numbers. They are no longer critically imperiled.

Whitetip Shark Sticker
The white tip shark is known for the white patch on its dorsal fin. It occupies open ocean waters in tropical and subtropical regions. They have live births and travel the seas with pilot whales. They are at risk from fishing.

Purple Frog Sticker
A secretive species, this handsome frog spends much of its life underground. For this reason, it was only just just discovered in 2003 where it lives in southwest India.
