What's with the Name?

The name Sadie Lou Hays was inspired by two very memorable canines in my life, Sadie and Lula. The last name is after my home base in Hays county, Texas.

Sadie

Sadie was a pound puppy. When she came to us, she had mange, she was lonely and not really cute to look at, but she had heart. Half rottweiler and half blue heeler, she was smart and spunky.

Sadie was smart. When my father was growing peppers in the yard, she would beg for a taste. The day that he obliged her, she spat it out. Hours later, she had flattened the pepper plants. That was it for the jalapenos that year.

Lula

Lula came from a family of 15 puppies! Not from one mom, though. A family with two dogs got two litters of puppies from a promiscuous father in the neighborhood at the same time. Lula was the Red Heeler. Half of the others were labs. Her father was never determined.
